The rates will be going down for business because they were the main obstacle standing in the way of DTE's power quest.

There were just recently public hearings on the issue(s)...I was not able to find any local news on them. I think there will be more.

Yes, I do use solar and wind power! Yes, I do use big electric. I would love to become independent from them.
Yes, I am concerned about the proprosed rate increases and other things going on w/ big energy in Michigan. Please see the "DTE & CMS Energy" thread, or try responding to the topic at hand.

And Chips, I can't save the world all by myself, I do care. The rate increase will affect renters as well as homeowners, and I definitely don't think most seniors living on a fixed income can afford the rate increase. I know those living in poverty sure can't afford it, and Monroe has something like 12% of it's population living in poverty.
If DTE gets their way, they will come away with more than a $350 million dollar rate increase.
6 billion in taxpayer dollars, and a monopoly along w/ CMS that will put them in charge of the bulk of electricity produced in MI.
They also receive federal & state tax breaks, loans, and grants.

So they've been making huge profits for years, government grants, and now when it is necessary for them to update to keep up with demand we get to pay for it and they will keep the profits from the increased electricity they sell..... Sounds totally fair to me, who did this again? Michigan House... job well done by a true democrat, I thought they were for the little guys. But then again I guess my retired parents living on a fixed income should bear the increased cost for this.....
