Monroe County bussiness you will never go to again and why???
« on: August 28, 2007, 07:36:38 AM »

I was just wondering if anyone has had a bad experiance with a Monroe County bussiness? For me it is Magnum Powersports on Summerfield Rd (by the KOA) I took my bike in and they said it would be a three day turn around for some small problem I had with it. Took them 10 days just to look at it and then a week to order the part I needed. I will never go there again. Monroe Motorsports here I come.

Could you expand a little more on what was wrong with your bike?
Was parts supply part of your problem?
How old is your machine? Was the shop backed up and busy the time?
Did you take it in during the spring time months?

I am not trying to defend Magnum AT ALL! I have been in the motorcycle industry for 20 years and this seems to be a common problem with Michigan shops and Michigan motorcyclists. Our volume of work can at times double in a matter of days during certain times of the year. Especially right before big events and or holidays. Taking that into consideration, the lack of proper winter preparation and basic maintenance can lead to  longer and costlier repairs.

In the day of "On time Delivery" and inventory taxation a lot of shops don't stock every part for every make and model. Not to mention the cost of just purchasing inventory. As I'm sure you are well aware back orders are very common in the motorcycle industry. Not to mention the On Line creeps that will "cut throat" everyone to make a buck!

I know it to be fact that most shops are charging more to people that are buying tires on line and bringing them in to be mounted and balanced. I don't blame them one bit!! They have equipment to pay for and staff to pay, and at the end of the day they will be the ones sued if there is a problem with a substandard tire.

Also, there are very few competent licenced motorcycle technicians any more. If you find one he will most likely be worth the wait. I would recommend you request to see the licence of the tech that touches your bike and make sure it is current. That way you are sure that the mechanic at least has the minimal knowledge to service your product. Some shops only have one licenced mechanic and people working under that licence. I wouldn't want someone "learning" while working on my stuff without at least the direct supervision of someone with a licence!

Also do not take what the service writer says as gospel, unless he/she is a licenced tech. Most of them only write repair orders and never touch a bike/atv let alone know how they work, ask the mechanic about your bike!

Peace.

i turn and the mentally challenged guy turns to me and points and yells DUHDUHDER! im not making fun of him or anything but thats literally what he said
so i said ok...
and the manager lady walks out and goes
"sir, its not funny at all to make fun of people who are diffrent, especially in the workplace!"
and i see him over there smiling
and everyone in the resturaunt which has people standing because its so full
turn to looks at me
i was pretty angry so i said

I have a severe problem with K-Mart! I had a wallet stolen from there about 5 years ago and they did nothing! My old lady took my wallet to do some X-Mas shopping; she had it on top of her purse while checking out. Someone nabbed it when she was downloading her cart. There are three cameras over the registers, but they would not do anything about it. Our holiday money, all my ID's etc. gone.
I still will not shop there!

I will never buy a major appliance at the local Sears.

I needed to buy a new dryer a few years ago. The Sears sales people were cold and unhelpful. When the dryer was delivered, several days later, I found out we didn't have the right hook-up for it, so I had it returned and got a refund.

I went out to Lowes and the sales staff was great! They were helpful, informative, and the prices were much better than Sears. My washer was giving me problems at the time, too, so I was able to purchase a new washer and dryer at Lowe's for not much more than what I would have paid for the dryer at Sears. I'm sure Lowes would have delivered them for us, but we have a handyman friend who has a truck, so he went with us to buy the appliances and Lowes just loaded them on his truck. Our friend hooked everything up easily and quicikly.

I've had other great experiences buying things at Lowes. I definitely recommend the store!

The Wendy's on Telegraph in front of Meijer. It is the worst Wendy's ever! I have to 4 chances and all 4 times we went there we had to wait forever. Nobody working is over 25, none of them are ever doing anything. I stood at the counter for a refill for a little under 5 minutes while everyone just stood together in the back talking. We will never go there again. Normally Wendy's is one of the better fast food restaurants but that one by Meijer, it's just terrible!

Buffalo Wild Wings.

Who wants to pay Outback prices for chicken wings and eat on paper plates in a noisy bar? I went once and hated it. Surly high school chicklets were supposed to be providing table service--I saw no evidence of that happening. It was awful.

And it's too bad, too, because they have an excellent selection of different beers. I believe they have Newcastle on tap--my FAVORITE. Hey, maybe I will go back, but just to the bar--not for the food.

That Wendy's is extremely SLOW when you go inside.  If there are more than a few people in line when we go in there, we leave and go elsewhere.  I don't know why they can't get their staff to speed up the service at the counter.

The drive-thru there does not have the same problem.  It seems to me that all Wendy's restaurants try to get you through their drive-thru as quickly as possibly, as if it is a part of their corporate mission statement or something...

I agree about BW3 having bad service. But that's at ALL of the BW3's I've ever been to. I think the one in Monroe actually has the best service of the 4 or so that I've been to LOL. We go there often just to watch the game and drink beer. They do have good beer specials. And I must admit that their veggie buffelitos are awesome, just make sure you're not starving when you get there, or you might have died before your food gets to you. :)

NMG has been sold???  I didn't even know that was a possibility in all honesty.  My husband and I have found so many great things there and had planned on going back next spring when it was time to start our garden again.

I will be sad about NMG.  They were the only place I trusted to make the grave blanket for my dad.  Now I will have to find someone else who will charge more, care less and do a so so job.

What's the story with NMG?  Are the Staelgraves all retiring?  I loved going in their to pick out planters etc.  Their staff was always very helpful and pleasant.

I will never go to Monroe Veterinary Clinic (Dr. Black's office) again.  Dr. Black was OK but he has since sold the practice to 2 other vets and they are horrible!  I took my dog in for her routine vaccinations about 2 years ago.  She saw one of the new vets.  He wanted me to lift her up onto the exam table...she weighed 115 pounds!  I asked if he could bend down and give her her shots because she has hip dysplasia and can't jump.  He said that he needed her on the table.  So we both lifted her up.  He felt around her belly and said to me "Do you know that your dog has a mammary tumor?".  I was shocked!  He then said and I quote "You will be very lucky if this cancer hasn't spread to her lungs already.  We need to do surgery right away!".

I came in for her shots so this diagnosis was horrifying.  He told me that if I didn't believe him that I could look this up on the internet and that we need to do surgery right away to catch it before it spreads (but odds were that it has spread already).  Instead of handing him my credit card, I left and took her back to Temperance Animal Hospital.  The vet there did a simple biopsy (took less than 5 minutes) and she came back in and said that her "mammary tumor" was nothing more than fat!  My dog was perfectly fine!  I left there and called his office and chewed him out.  He said that he stood by his diagnosis.  I took his advice and searched the internet.  I found out that female dogs that were fixed before they had their first heat (she was) had less than a 1% chance of developing a mammary tumor!  He never even bothered to ask me if she had been fixed!

Since then, I have heard that one of the girls in his office is secretly telling people when they call to take their pets to another vet.  She said that the new vets don't care about the pets and that they just want to make money.  I now recommend River Raisin Vets or Temperance Animal Hospital.
