I will never, never go back to North Monroe Greenhouse.  I decided after a couple of bad experiences (shortly after the purchase from the Staelgraeve family) to try them once again.  I entered the store, selected an artificial arrangement and waited 10 minutes before I ever saw a person.  Some man said that someone would be along shortly, I never saw anyone and left.  I will never be back.  I will continue to buy all flowers from Jane Woodbury whose business is located in the Merkle Funeral Home

Agree on North Monroe Greenhouse,Rich never should have sold it. The quality now bites. I ordered flowers for my parents Anniversary. The arrangement was scant and sloppy. No way near the quality of the Stealgraves'..Thank God Marge hasn't sold the ice cream stand. I love those people. They know good quality. Deb has a new flower shop at the intersection of Monroe and Telegraph. Try there.

Food Town on Telegraph

Very very dirty store, a produce nightmare, and they do not treat their employess well at all! Sherry the long time cashier there and Nevaeh Buchanan's grandmother was recently let go because of her age, they wanted to get younger employees in there. Sherry needed that job, with all the heartache in her life, she didn't need that. For that reason alone I will no longer shop there!!!

The Pilot gas station at exit 18 on I-75 and Nadeau.

They owned the Arby's (turned it into a Taco Bell now)...they fired a long time manager for fraternizing with the hired help when in fact they were long-time friends in the first place. In fact she helped her gay friend hire in...everybody knew it.
Actually I'm quite sure they just used that as an excuse....the truth is they found out she was expecting again and wanted to avoid the expense on the company health insurance.
Sadly, nothing can be done about since Michigan is an at will state, meaning an employer can fire without cause.

They also fired another long time manager who managed the Arby's, even after sending her to the month long Taco Bell College. Then they replaced her with another manager for $10,000 per year less.

I don't care who is managing if the food quality is good, the store is clean, the service is polite and fast.....

I take those as signs that management is good.  I don't need to know who it is, who they are dating, how much they make.

So I assume you go to dirty places with cruddy food and slow service and high prices because you are so selfless?

Really?

If so.......  whatever.  You already know what you are.

Okay maybe not in Monroe County...but it seems relevant:

KFC fires woman for being homeless

A Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Mississippi is in hot water after news broke that Eunice Jasica was hired then fired for being homeless. The 59 year-old fell on hard times and was calling a local Salvation Army home.

Taco Bell College?   I know McDonalds has a school of Hamburgerology...   all for little pay as well.

Shame - as I think I know who the manager was.

So Obamacare takes it's toll on another job  8*

And as a side note:   I doubt that management at any fast food place has any form of organized labor ties.
It's nothing new for Michigan or any other State...
It's just good business practice to take care of your management - if you want good results.
The ones left will see how the previous ones were "taken care of" and perform accordingly

This location (Pilot) was always a poor one for roads and proximity - so the "business" decision was made to cheapen the menu.

Capitalism.

Business owners are free to get rid of a manager and hire someone cheaper.

Employees are free to leave a company and find a different or better job.

Good business owners usually reward good employees to keep them - but that is not always the case.  Fortunately in the United States we are not told where we have to work, we have the freedom to choose.

Which brings to mind the old Adage...

You usually get what you pay for.

Want Cheap - you get cheap.

It's actually a sign of a failing business plan or desperation
- going cheap, getting rid of employees...
where else are they cutting?  8*

It could also explain why they changed franchises recently.

Was that a desperation move to improve business, or did they get dumped for non-performance?

Doesn't seem like a stable business to me.
