Two-sport standouts
« on: August 29, 2007, 01:30:03 PM »

Do you think high school athletes should be allowed to play two sports during the same season?

Here's a story Evening News sports editor Ron Montri wrote on the subject:

If an athlete can do it, why not - as long as his or her academics don't suffer.

I would think there wouldn't be enough hours in the day to do this though.

not many athletes can do it. audie cole did it but hes a rare talent. i think kids should focus on only one sport at a time becuase at one point in the season you are going to have to pick and chose between events and it will hurt one of your teams.

i wouldnt call playing baseball and running track a 2 sport athelete. you can afford to miss track practice, there are no plays to remember, no team continuity. Easily achievable

If a kid can handle 2 sports and keep their academics up, I say more power to them.  We should encourage them to be as active as possible and lay off the XBox and donuts.
