So you are still in favor of government interference in these private decisions.   Thought so.

I would hazard a guess that the majority of murders are done privately, but I advocate none of them.

We have some very intelligent contract law here: contracts signed by minors are unenforceable, as an example.  We also have some very ignorant contract law: no-fault divorce has wreaked absolute havoc on the American Family, particularly on men.  "Marriage" and "divorce" have historically been the realm of the church, secular authorities only intervened when it became somewhat necessary to give some form of legal recognition to the thousands of bastard children that were being birthed by unmarried (and apparently non-church-going) couples, hence "common law marriage."

A light aside, if I might: the state of Ohio, just a couple years ago, became one of the only states to actually annul a long-standing common law - that of "common law marriage."  Most of the states, and definitely the FedGov, pretend common law doesn't exist anymore, although it is actually still in effect where not properly annullled or amended...

If those are "the issues" as you see them, please do us a favor and tell us which of the above fiascos were NOT created by Republicrats?  As I see it, ALL of the above problematic areas for American WERE created by governmental interference where it wasn't asked for, required, or allowable by their constitutional restraints.  Why do we cry for more governmental action when their actions have consistently proven to make things WORSE than they already were.  Not all "problems" can or should be "solved" by government, some things we just gotta do ourselves...

Your ideal governmental system seems to boil down to "living in a cabin in the middle of Montana with a gun."

Agree or disagree?

Disagree, although I will say I would rather live like that than your ideal of "living in a government owned apartment with your universal bridge card, and no right to defend yourself at all".

I fail to see how such a conclusion could have been reached from the statements, but to answer the first half of the question: my ideal governmental system is the America of our forefathers before the disastrous Buck Act of 1939/1940, for starters.  Do your own research on that topic if you will, but rest assured that the problems mentioned, i.e. "...health care, Iraq, the economy, soaring energy prices, inflation, corrupt government contracts, our diminished reputation on the world stage, our laggard education system, our declining quality of life, our stagnant wages, and our problematic food supply, guns..." have all occurred since then, and I don't like any of it either.

Close!

More like "living in a historically renovated building downtown paid in full, with an organic rooftop garden and enough guns to arm Somalia."

I can see how those two can get mixed up, though.

OH, so you're saying when one accuses someone of being an extremist one is usually way off base?

Got it.

Oh I'm still an extremist, just not the one you conveniently tried to paint me as. :P

I think the Constitution protects the unborn & an individual's right to bear arms, as does the Honorable Dr. Ron Paul.

But does it protect the unborn's right to bear arms?

A well regulated fetus militia shall not be infringed.

And I only did so to suggest that maybe other people aren't the types you conveniently tried to paint them/us as.
