Michigan Unranked In AP Top 25
« on: September 04, 2007, 06:19:15 PM »

This is a shock to me. I thought for sure they would still be ranked. They fell 21 spots in the poll, the largest drop ever.

Excactly, If USC or someone of that caliber lost to a team of app state, i can guarantee they would still be ranked. Nobody likes michigan other than people in michigan.

I figured they would drop down to 20 maybe 25 but not out of the poll completely.  They only poll that matters is the BCS, and that really is a joke too.  Divisio 1A needs a playoff system.  The only reason the Bowl exist is for the money they make for the schools.

He probably voted for youngstown state, the team they beat. I hope michigan beats ohio state this year, that would be great. I would be very amused.

The Top Ten reasons why Michigan REALLY lost to Appalachian State.

"Borrowed" from the Midland Daily News, by Fred Kelly.

I actually liked # 10 best...

10. The Wolverines don't like to be outdone by Notre Dame in any way, shape, or form. If the Irish are going to give up 33 points on opening day, then Michigan just had to do them one better.

The article plus the other nine:

Those are really funny, i love number 6. Here they are for easier acces:

Top 10 reasons why michigan lost.

10. The Wolverines don't like to be outdone by Notre Dame in any way, shape, or form. If the Irish are going to give up 33 points on opening day, then Michigan just had to do them one better.

    9. Michigan was under the mistaken impression that this was a bowl game.

    8. The Mountaineers were well-prepared to take on the big boys, what with playing against I-AA powerhouses like Wofford, Gardner-Webb, and Furman all these years.

    7. Lloyd Carr spent the whole week pondering what the heck a "Football Championship Subdivision" is, rather than focusing on how to stop the quarterback draw.

    6. Mountaineers' coach Jerry Moore kidnapped Michigan's entire team earlier in the week and replaced them with the Detroit Lions.

    5. The Wolverines didn't really want the pressure of being labeled "national championship contenders" hanging over their heads all season, so they decided to nip that distraction in the bud right off the bat.

    4. Michigan's booster club just can't seem to buy as many good athletes as they did in the good ol' Ed Martin days.

    3. Appalachian State players were extra super-duper fired up after airport security refused to let them bring their squirrel-huntin' rifles on the plane.

    2. Michigan's entire defense was up all night Friday watching reruns of E! True Hollywood Story: Jessica Simpson and the World Poker Tour.

And the top reason why U-M lost to the Mountaineers:

    1. Since the game was available only on the Big Ten Network, the Wolverines just didn't figure anybody would notice.

i just have to laugh at how the voters of the polls knocked the wolverines down so far...other than the one from around appalachian state and knows how good the mountaineers really are.

even ole gray skies tressel said he was rooting for the wolverines...course you dont know what to believe when it comes out of his mouth!

and to think they were running all around columbus blowing their horns and carrying on cause of the loss (and probably burned a few things) and they even showed the end of the michigan game for who was left inside ohio stadium and they went crazy in there too. imagine that!

the wolverines have been a scapegoat due to what happened...do they deserve it?? no! no more than the luckeyes or anyone else!

but as most of you all have seen...the oddsmakers have the wolverines  eight and a half point favorites over oregon...i guess it takes someone when money is involved to know who truly are the...CHAMPIONS AND THE BEST!

HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!!

I think everyone except people who are Michigan homers expected BIG BLUE to drop out. Just think, if MSU lost to Appalachian State they would drop way more than 40 spots than where they are now. Also, what justifies that Michigan shouldn't drop out of the top 25 completely? Because they were ranked too high? Because the AP and Coaches poll gave them too much love at #5? Teams being ranked in the first week of football is ridiculous anyhow because nobody truly knows where everybody should be ranked when no games have been played. Any team that loses to a cream puff school its first week just shows why the early rankings aren't that big of deal.

cream puff school??? what game were you watching??? lol you are obviously a spartan it shows!! or maybe a luckeye but i truly doubt it. only you and your cronies expected michigan to drop out..and that is probably a lie also...no one in their right mind really expected the wolverines to drop out of the top twenty five...and hey...who really cares?? they can run the table easily...will they?? maybe not but its more than likely. what is for sure is they will still probably win the big ten title.

yes ranking teams before a game is ever played is idiodic...but its been that way for decades so live with it.

i will be at the game tomorrow and my prediction and i have fifty bucks on the game heads up. michigan 52 oregon 31.
