I agree. I just read this whole topic and something was weird about the whole thing. If I was looking for new clients and he was sincere, I think he would have at least said his name.

huh?  I think I already said that I did not want to state my name bc the administrators would consider it advertising.

And FWIW, I do know the modes of advertising.  I didn't ask "How does one go about advertising?"  I was just trying to figure out which would be most effective mode of advertisiment considering I have a limited budget and can't afford a zillion forms of marketing.

Thanks for all of the replies. :)

I am not going state my name on this forum.  I am pretty sure that it is against the forum rules to solicit business for yourself.

Just like a lawyer to be pretty sure instead of absolutely sure. Hehe! Just kiddin ya buddy.
Seriously! I would state your name. Look at J's Smokehouse. You don't hear anyone complaining.Ooops! I just advertised for him again. He gets advertising everyday AND I think it's one of the longest threads in the history of MT.

You already have an alias. J call himself General Buster. But we all know who he is. He gives recipes, pointers on cooking ribs, clears up misconceptions, new items on his menu, advertises new annex locations with gratuitous lead ups by keeping all of us in suspense, etc.

maybe you could have a ask the lawyer day once a week and answer 5 questions of your choosing.
GIVE YOUR NAME! It can only help you do what you set out to do with this thread. And I will try not to do any more lawyer jokes. No promises though.

I'm Jim Richards and I approve this comment.

I don't think that it's a bad thing to check any source of input where marketing is concerned.  At least the guy was honest about not soliciting business for himself.  Nosh:  where would you do a demographic market study if you were on a limited budget?  How do you advertise for an attorney that is getting into the business as a new attorney in Monroe?  Don't say the yellow pages... that won't work.

Squish... good luck on your venture.  I would check with BNI, Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Monroe Business Network, write some articles for the periodicals like MEN (free for them and establishes creditability for you), Prepaid Legal, take an attorney that you respect out to lunch, work with some local charities to build repoire with the members (and give back to the community at the same time)... that's all I have time for... good luck!

Squish, I have been working in law firms in Monroe for almost 6 years and I think what you are doing is great and a good time/money saver.  Most of the clients that come to the firm I work at now is by word of mouth.  My suggestion to you is to try to 'network' as much as possible.  Also, as much as people knock the Yellow Pages, I think an ad there would be a good idea as well, or look into advertising on the Coffee News publication Monroe has.

Good luck!!

Too Young for Heaven

A young lawyer dies and is sent to heaven.

Upon his arrival, he meets St. Peter at the Gate. St. Peter asks the lawyer his name and looks up his entry in the Great Big Book.

St. Peter then looks at the lawyer and says, "You look very good for being 138 years old."

Astonished, the lawyer replies, "There must be some mistake, I am only 32."

St. Peter responds, "Not according to your billable hours."
