Sports teams and family traditions
« on: September 17, 2007, 10:18:28 PM »

How many of you have long-standing family traditions in which the relatives are EXPECTED to cheer for a certain sports team? And how do those who favor other teams handle the situation?

We've told anyone who comes into the family that they can cheer for any sports teams they like, as long as they understand that they have to root for Cleveland too.

There are five generations in my family who have been Cleveland Indians fans. The Cleveland Browns can claim four generations. And although there have been only a couple of serious baskeball fans, the rest of us cheer for Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Rockers without thinking twice.

Of course, the Packers, Bengals and Steelers fans have to be good sports about the situation. They're outnumbered.  ;D

My family's always been somewhat diverse. My grandpa's always just cheered for michigan teams, and everyone who married into my dad's family is from a different state so we have some interesting times when the games on.

I'm the only one in my family who's a Miami Hurricanes fan, so that's gets fun some football season. Plus i love the Atlanta Braves (my first ever baseball glove had chipper jones name in it) and my aunt is from New York and love the Mets
