With everybody pissing and moaning, and complaining back and forth, I'm happy to finally see some words of wisdom from a poster on this thread.  And it was from a 19-year old.  Thank you, Bethany.

Thank you. =)

We are here to debate, offer our opinions, not trite cliches that are meaningless. In a perfect world we would have perfect leaders, and no war. This not perfection.

sue lee, please, what you consider a trite cliche are the honest feelings of a 19 year old. They do not need to be bashed. Her comments are just as valid and welcome in any thread as yours are.

I agree, I am sorry. I was rude.

General Petraeus is not a combat warrior. He is an academic. He has a Phd in international relations.

He is what we called a "ring knocker". He graduated from West point, and promptly married the Commanding Officers daughter. (can you say connected?)

He came up through the ranks, getting his ticket punched in various assignments, Groomed for high command.

He never saw combat prior to being deployed to Iraq in 2003 as a Lt. general.

NEVER SAW COMBAT Not exactly the guy I want to follow into battle.

He is a proffessor and an administrater. I would not accept his view of how a war was being fought or won.

The only combat decoration the man has is a bronze star with combat V. I see this as a bone he was thrown to make him look like a hero. There is no explination for how he got this medal. The Army however has a long history of padding medals.

He is a perfumed prince and not a war fighter. We will never win in iraq under his leadership. He is no George Patton.

His boss called him a sycophant." An *** kissing little chickens**t".

I know you said you were a bit rude and were sorry blah blah blah.
But I wasn't aware of any cliches, especially meaningless ones in my post.
But whatever you say!
Just because I'm younger doesn't mean my opinions on politics don't matter. But that's also why I normally don't post on these boards. People get too crazy talking about being on one side or another. Almost every thread resorts to name calling. Who wants that?

Prophet:

From your post one would almost get the impression the General
personally drown your puppy when you were a child.

During WWI Eisenhower was stationed in Texas and was a staff
officer most of his career prior to WWII. Never had a field command.

Now this General's bio was known to the Senate, they all praised him as an
honorable man and confirmed him unanomously 84-0 to his present command.
I wonder how mounting a successful campaign in Iraq means he deserves to
have his character trashed by the same folks.

My quess is had he returned after having been routed in the field and
then come back to report the war was irretrievably lost he would have
been lauded by the same folks slamming him today.

Younger, smonger! Age should have nothing to do with it. Go on being brilliant, Bethany! Thank you for your even rationale.

As a Vet, I am merely pointing out the fact that your sons and daughters lives are in the hands of a man that never saw combat prior to becoming a general. He was placed in his position by the president after every other general considered for the post refused to toe the line and spout the presidents crap about winning the war and everything  going peachy keen.

I have a son about to be comissioned a Second Lt. in the Army, without a doubt, he will be in iraq soon after. Thus, I am very concerned that ticket punching sycophants are in charge of running the war, and I take personnal offense when the general in charge says we will probably be there another ten years.

He is an administrator and a proffesor. The army needs these, just not leading troops in combat.

I'm not saying he betrayed us, I believe he is dedicated and believes in what he is doing, I just believe he is the wrong man for the job.

Very telling that all the libs point in this direction and then that direction, but avoid the topic.
If you have a gripe about how swift boaters treated Senator Kerry etc. create a topic and
address it.

As far as this topic goes either get behind moveon.orgs ad, or line up against, but spare us
the smoke screen.

On a number of occasions when the libs criticized President Bush for this or that, policy and I
also disagreed with the policy, at least I had the honesty to say so.  From what I seen from
lib posters in this topic they are partisans so filled with venom they can't give an inch even
to the point they won't speak out against the indefensible.

Can you read? I mean honestly. I'm outright criticizing the Dems here and you gleen right over it, like it's not honesty? If they screw up, they screw up. They just screwed up and I wrote to my rep about it. Did you flunk reading comprehension or what?

No emails, no warnings, no communication whatsoever...just that ban

May be what happened to the other libs as well.

I guess disabling the report to admin link only on the lib side was indicative of the slanted games they play.

Enjoy your spoon-fed Faux News type right-wing echo-chamber.

Edited to add:

This is the only way to answer some of the questions posed:

1) I did nothing to warrant the banishment, it's political.

2) It's the router that's blocked but considering all the nonsense right-wing games being played by those running the site...it's just not worth it to bypass the banishment block.

3) The moron stalkers from MT contemplating a visit will be considered a threat and can expect to have a bad day if they act upon those idiotic thoughts.
