All aboard! More travelers turn to trains

Quote
Gas prices are causing more travelers to ride passenger trains. Nationally, the number of people riding Amtrak surged 13.9 percent in July from a year earlier. Many trains are getting overcrowded, and a backlog of infrastructure problems stands in the way of expanded service.

I loved riding the trains in Germany.  They were always on time and very clean.

It's too bad that in this country we turned are trains into nothing more than a supply line for our consumption instead of transportation of people like the Europeans...Transportation by train in this country is more of a fad than any actual practical transportation... :-\
