It's interesting that some of the candidate are now trying to mimic his ideas.

Utilizing his words and such.

Hey imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

After two terms of George II, I doubt if any Republican can win in 2008.
I sure hope it's not Hillary

Yeah, if he somehow managed to win the Republican nomination i'd vote for him in a heartbeat. Sadly the media seems intent on ignoring him completely, even going to the lengths of cutting him out of debate promotional shots and laughing at his statements.

It'd be nice if he ran on a third party ticket.

I have to admit the more I read about this man the more I like him...But you're right, he doesn't stand much of a chance with the political bias of the media...A third party would be a nice change of pace, but I just can't see it happening with the close minded partisan politics we have now...!

Forget about third parties.  Vote for him in the Republican primary.  It'll show the media who's boss.

That's the truth.

Looks like Ron Paul is picking up steam. No wonder the neo-cons are ignoring his campaign. Out of sight out of mind.

This is the kind of election where a guy like Ron Paul could win some primaries/caucuses.  It's a mixed field with no obvious Republican choice.  The man is surprisingly competitive with the other candidates in terms of fundraising and cash on hand.  And the normal Republican voters might just stay home because the mainline party has turned pro-choice and pro-big government.  Oh, and that little war thing, too.

Ron Paul is a barometer for the health of the Republican Party.  The stronger he gets, the more trouble that party is in.

We have not heard the last from Ron Paul.

Ron Paul’s ideas are gaining steam but he doesn’t seem very Presidential which could be a problem.

I despise Republicans too much anyway so maybe another candidate will emerge from somewhere.

He also wants to allow churches the freedom to exercise their freedom of speech in the political arena so I hope they start paying taxes as well.
No pay, no say is the American way (The church shouldn’t be allowed to have it both ways)

what about the people that collect a welfare check it appears they are allowed to vote..no pay no work no vote

people that are on welfare have a right to vote, just we do. If something happened to you and you needed help, should you no longer be allowed to vote? Once again the poor are viewed as less then human, they don't count. That is a sad way to think. It could be you someday, or a family member.

Yeah, I'm not sure if persecuted father was trying to make a point about ff's opinion, or if he really believes that people on welfare shouldn't be allowed to vote. Either way, I think it's important to remember thatat one time only property owners in this country had the right to vote. The reasoning for this was that almost all of the property owners were white men, and this provided a unique way to disenfranchise minorities.

Obvious Republican choice for me is John McCain.

People don't collect a "welfare check" unless they report to the "Work First" program, or are exempted for special situations, like a parent of a child under 3 with developmental disabilities. I hope you or your family never find yourselves in a position to need assistance from Human Services.

CNN's Jack Cafferty on Ron Paul

I am a fan of Jack Cafferty. I like his blunt talk and his grumpy old man demeanor lol

I’ve reserved comment because so many people here are leaning his way but I have noticed a few things.

Ron Paul side will offer tax credits to emergency room physicians because they are required to provide care regardless of a person’s ability to pay. There’s a chance they would return to financial shake downs and be refused treatment with Ron Paul’s blessing.

He also wants to allow churches the freedom to exercise their freedom of speech in the political arena so I hope they start paying taxes as well.
No pay, no say is the American way (The church shouldn’t be allowed to have it both ways)

Ron wants to get rid of the income tax….. Now that’s funny! (Throwing out the baby with the bath water) I’ve seen nothing proposed to replace that lost income much like getting rid of that business tax in Lansing…… That idea didn’t work very well there either.

This guy can propose many solutions that will strike a chord with many people but unless things are thought through, those campaign promises will never be fulfilled because they’re unworkable.

No pay, no say? You sound like a lobbyist for a big corporation. Every American has the right to free speech. Tax churches? Let's just throw out the whole separation of church and state idea while we are at it. :-X

The American Sovereignty Restoration Act, 1997.

This is the kind of leadership we NEED!!

We absolutely do NOT need a bloated bureaucratic BS organization like the UN speaking on our behalf to other nations.
We do NOT need to be told how to run our nation by this organization.(UN Charter)
We do NOT need the UN telling us how to educate our kids.(Goals 2000)
We do NOT need the UN usurping our Bill of Rights under World Treaties.(NAU, SPP)
We do NOT need to pay for the funding of this group with taxpayer dollars.
We do NOT need our people in the military bounced around the world playing rent-a-cop for this organization.
We do NOT need to be part of THEIR global community, we ARE part of the global community by our very existence. We can form treaties with other nations by ourselves that they can't rape and pillage.
We do NOT need their permission to protect our nation from those that will do us harm.(Security Council)
And, we damn sure do NOT need their assistance to aid other nations that may need our help.
As Americans we have PROVED that time and again.

This organization is diametrically opposed to the very foundations of our nation and its freedoms. Not hard to believe when you look at it's founders. Socialists, communists, and a few malcontent Nazi's just for good measure.

Boot'em OUT. They can go to France, or anywhere else for that matter. Just as soon as they pay their parking tickets to New York City!!!
That building would make a nice new World Trade Center too.
